RANTHAMBORE NATIONAL PARKSTORY


It is situated 12 kms from Sawai Madhopur and gets its name from the Ranthambore fort situated within its boundaries . The Ranthambore National Park is situated amidst the Aravalis and the Vindhya ranges surrounded by vast tracts of desert ecology of Rajasthan . It speads over an area of 392 sq. Kms of thick forest cover with nullahs and water falls. The park has a tropical dry deciduous and tropical thorn forest type of Vegetation .Important tree species include Acocia Lencolhleela , Beri , Aaam , Dhok and Flame of the forest .Rajbag ,Padamtalab and Malik talab lakes are a paradise for wildlife and are full of lotus and Nymphaeas . The Herbivorous animals include blue bull ,Sambhar , Chinkara and cheetal . Samber deer is the pride of the park and nowhere else in Asia can one see these deer during daytime. The tiger is the biggest attraction of the park .Ranthambore is considered one of the best parks in the country to see and observe the tiger.Carnivore in the park include the Leopard ,Ratel , Caracle ,Jungle cat ,Fox and Jackal.



RANTHAMBORE FORTSTORY

The History of Sawai Madhopur revolves around the Ranthambore Fort.It is still NOT certain who built this fort and when, but some people say that it was built in 944 A.D. The eminent ruler of the fort was Rao Hamir who ruled
around 1296 A.D. The fort was so strong and inaccessible that even rulers of Delhi and Agra found it a challenge. Despite this move of its ruler, it had a peaceful spell. This great fort inspires patriotism valor and love as
can be seen from its remnants of the inside are of historical interest namely ToranDwar , MahadeoChhatri , Samantonki Haveli, 32 pillared Chhatri, a mosque and the lord Ganesha temple .Of these the Ganeshatemble holds a major attraction for visitors . People from all over the world come here to seek the blessing of Lord Ganesha , specially the mail sent to the Lord consisting mainly of wedding cards . A fair is held of BhadrapadSudi Chaturthi over here.



GHUSHMESHWARTEMPLE

Enshrined in the Puranas, the Ghushmeshwar Temple is believed to be 12th or the last of the Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Situated at the Siwar village in Sawai Madhopur, this temple has many mythological stories weaved around it. The most prominent, and popular story tells of the greatness of Lord Shiva, who resurrected his devotee Ghusma’s son, and even promised to abide in Devagiri hills as Ghushmeshwar after her name, Ghushma
